What Is Communism
Communism is a political and economic doctrine that aims to replace private property and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control of the major means of production and the natural resources of a society. Communism also involves the absence of social classes, money, and the state. Communists often seek a voluntary state of self-governance but disagree on the means to this end. Communism is based on the revolutionary socialism of Karl Marx, who advocated a proletarian overthrow of capitalist structures and the establishment of a classless society.
